Juanita Selvage Obituary

A sales associate for Wal-Mart, she died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. She was 59 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Antioch Full Gospel Missionary Church on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Religious service at the church at 7 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Bishop Elder Harris. Dismissal at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by her husband, Albert C. Selvage; mother, Bernice Livous; father, Green Patterson Jr., St. Louis; daughter, Tonya L. Selvage; son, Marvin Selvage; six sisters, Lois Knighten, Sandra Sims, Berdice Haynes, Theresa Patterson, Sheila King and Zelda Livous; two brothers, Ronnie Follins and Stacy Livous; sisters-in-law, Vivian, Rosa, Syretha, Betty and Annie; brothers-in-law, Charles Selvage and Marshall Self; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by her grandmother, Renella Bennett; stepfather, John Livous; grandson, Terry Selvage; mother-in-law, Martha Selvage; five nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers will be Marvin Selvage, Stacy Livous, Ronnie Follins, Joe Coates Jr. and Ben Mulkey. She was a graduate of Zion City Elementary School and Scotlandville Senior High School, class of 1966. Arrangements by Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home.

We were so very saddened to hear of Ms. Juanita's death. Barely a month earlier, my father and I had spoken with her where the two of them immediately began to reminisce their days as Baker Wal-Mart employees prior to his retirement. We both remember her as someone who was fun to be around and someone who always had a ready smile for customers and friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Diane's death. I always use to go over to her house and play with her daughter (my cousin) as a child. Diane was always so kind and I always felt welcomed. I would see her sometimes when I went to Walmart and we would talk and catch up with one another.
