Laurie Seneca Obituary

Laurie Ruth Brooks Seneca, a beloved mother, grandmother, big sister, and friend passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age 75. She was a resident of Addis, Louisiana and was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, on December 31, 1948. Laurie is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Gavin Seneca; three children, Becky Seneca Purdom and husband Steve, Tammy Seneca, and Eric Seneca and wife Jennifer; five amazing and beloved grandchildren, Gavin Purdom, Connor Seneca, Garrett Seneca, Landon Seneca, and Isabella Seneca; two sisters, Sally Brooks Seneca and Amy Brooks Gates (Thomas); one brother, Davy Brooks (Karen); sister-in-law, Lynne Brooks; great aunt, Susan Oncal; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Brooks; mother, Georgette Oncal Brooks; brothers, Danny Brooks, and Jamey Brooks; and brother-in-law, Andrew Seneca. Laurie retired from the West Baton Rouge Parish School system after 25 years in the system. She was a lifelong genealogy enthusiast and devoted to her family for her entire life. Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 402 South Kirkland Drive (River Road), Brusly, LA 70719 on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, celebrated by Father Arun John. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
