Llewellyn Proctor Obituary

Dr. Llewellyn "Allen" Proctor Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 14, 2016, at the age of 60 at MD Anderson. Allen graduated from Catholic High School in 1973, he received a BS degree in Zoology from LSU, and then earned a Doctorate from LSU Medical School. He completed a residency in Neurology from Tulane Medical. He was a practicing neurologist in Baton Rouge at the Neuro Medical Center (NMC) for 25 years. Following retirement from NMC, he continued practicing as a dedicated neurologist at the Neuro-Technology Institute (NTI). While valiantly fighting his illness, Allen never lost his love for learning and sense of humor. His tremendous, positive character was and remains an inspiration to all. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Uzee Proctor, his wife of 36 years, devoted father of Jeffrey Allen, Douglas Allen and wife Jillian, and Benjamin Allen; his mother, Audrey Schlosser Proctor; brothers, Mike Proctor (Nancy), Don Proctor (Gae); sister, Toni Seal; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Llewellyn Proctor Sr. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge from 9 AM until a Funeral Mass at 12 noon. A private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Catholic High School, and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staffs at the Neuro Medical Center, NTI, Dr. Frederic Billings III, Dr. David Hanson, Dr. Joel Silverberg, all the staffs at Our Lady of the Lake, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and the stem cell and leukemia departments at MD Anderson. Pallbearers will be Michael Proctor, Matthew Proctor, Ryan Uzee, Reid Uzee, Adam St. Germain, and Donald Proctor Jr. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown. Allen, you were a wonderful childhood friend and part of the fabric of my youth and, as such, you live on within me.
