I'm T.W.'s mom and want to offer my sympathy to you. I have kept you in my prayers ever since T.W. called to tell me about Matthew. It's evident that he made an impression on everyone he ever met. My prayer is that God holds you ever more closely during this difficult time.

HOW VERY SADDENED WE WERE TO LEARN OF YOUR LOSS. A LOSS YOU CAN NOT RECOVER FROM. A HOLE IN YOUR HEART THAT IS NOW FILLED WITH MEMORIES OF YOUR DEAR SON. THANK GOD FOR THOSE WONDERFUL MEMORIES AND THE MANY LIVES MATTHEW TOUCHED. HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. OUR PRAYERS WILL REMAIN WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Cedric, Cathy and Christopher:
Be aware that you were charged with the care and feeding of a true Angel. You enabled him to spread his message on two continents and you did your job very, very well. Each time I saw Matthew and looked in his eyes I was humbled and speechless. He made me aware that all my difficulties were petty and thus provided me with strength. An Angel's mission I would say. He is truly "back home" now, pain free and assuming his proper role in Heaven. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Stay Strong and know you did well. Few are chosen for the task because few are qualified…”Ya’ll Were”. PEACE BE WITH YOU.

Cathy, I just learned of your loss a few minutes ago through my sister-in-law who lives in St. Francisville. I know your sister Jenny and was blessed to meet you when I saw you and Jenny in Wal-Mart one day. But not knowing someone doesn't keep us from hurting with them and sharing in their sadness. I cannot imagine the sadness of losing a child but I know many people who have and through their faith and courage, through a wonderful support system of friends and family, they work through what seems the impossible. I will remember you and your family when I pray as you move through this very difficult time.

You are all in my prayers. The loss of a loved one is hard. Somehow we find strength to carry on. I only knew Matthew when I walked by the house. Sometimes I would see him & wave. I am a neighbor on Graham Rd. God Bless You all!

Dear Cedric and Cathy,
We wish there was something we could say or do to help you through this difficult time. As a parent of a child with special needs we know the trials you have already been through. As a parent of a special child we also celebrated milestones other parents never experienced. Like a special child those special memories are a gift from God. I hope several verses from Psalm 34 will help:
"The Lord hears people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit."

To those who loved Matthew most, our prayers are with you. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing a child. Only faith can bring your family through this. Dear Matthew's family,
I was very shocked and saddened to hear about Matthew. I was blessed this summer to be a counselor at LA Lions Camp, which is where I met Matthew. He was the one of the cutest campers there. I know he will be missed by many, both counselors and campers.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dear Cedric, Cathy, and Christopher,
We were so sorry to hear about Matthew. He was such a special child, and always happy. I won't forget how excited he was at bible school, especially visiting polly. We will miss seeing his sweet face. He is in a better place now. To lose a child has got to be the worst thing for a parent to have to go through. I cannot imagine what you are going through, but know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cathy,
No words can say it, only love will fill that hole left by Matthew's absence. Our Monday's will not be the same without that precious face walking so proud, singing his America the Beautiful better than anybody born on this continent. I will always treasure having the privilege of being part of his life and by extension, the entire family. You will be covered, smothered, and enveloped in our prayers because that is the only way that hole will be filled until you see him again with his Savior.

We are so very sorry to hear of Mathews passing. Although I never really got to know him, I knew he was a very special child from hearing you dote on him from time to time. No parent should ever have to live through a tragedy such as this, and myself and Jill being parents feel yours and Cathy's loss all the more. God bless you and your family and know, that from the bottom of our hearts, you have our deepest sympathies and condolences. We were devastated to hear about Matthew. I watched him grow and make such strides of improvement since coming to the states. Cedric,
It’s hard for me to understand the loss of a child, but I’m overwhelmed with emotion every time I think about what you must be going through. When I think of Matthew I only see his smile and the way he always made me smile. Any time Mrs. Cathy would pull up at the airport, I hoped we would also be visited by Matthew. Watching him mature over the years was special to me; there was always a surprise in store from Matthew. I remember the first day I saw him taking steps on his own; it was miraculous sight to see. I almost started crying but instead laughed with joy. I’m certain that Matthew touched many hearts through his life and I’ll never forget the way he made me feel. His smile will forever be in my memory. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with you and your family. Take care and rest assure that he is happy and well with God.

I am so sorry to hear of your great loss; however, I am sure that God is so pleased to have such a wonderful child back with Him. When I heard the news, I was devastated but tried to understand that God wanted Matthew with Him even more than we wanted Matthew for ourselves. My girls (Taylor and Hope) were very upset when I told them, but I tried to explain to them what I am trying to understand myself--that Matthew is in a better place than we are. If there is anything that I can do for you, please feel free to let me do it. I will be praying for your whole family and hope that God will bring you peace. Know that we, as your Church Family at First Baptist, love you and want to comfort you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived
okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here
is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up
and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were
gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for
me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's
chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life
on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not
be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But
one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a
time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will
give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day
was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the
way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick
him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in
your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember
you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
