Robert Edward "Bob" Beck

1935 - 2024

Robert Edward Beck, (Bob), passed away at his home in Metairie, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024 after battling a long illness. He was 89 years old. He was born on September 16, 1935 in the Irish Channel in New Orleans. He is predeceased by his father, Francis Edward Beck and his mother, Gladys Blanchard Beck. He is also predeceased by his younger sister Dorothy Beck Short. He is survived by his two children, Donna Beck Tehas, (Brian), and Robert Anthony Beck, (Raelynn) and their mother, his former wife, Marion Cortello Beck, (Jackie). In addition he is survived by his grandson, Robert Walter Beck, (Trey). He is also survived by his lifelong partner, Miriam Lorio and her two daughters, Lisa Lorio, (Darrell), and Gina Palermo, (Michael, deceased). He graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans. He also graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He was an avid lover of fishing and hunting and spent many trips with his son and his friends from South Carolina and his lifelong friend, John Villani. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and the Veterans Services for all the care they provided to Bob in the last months of his life. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave. In Metairie. Visitation will be from 11am to 12 noon. Mass at 12 noon with Fr. Bob Massett officiating. He will be greatly missed.
