Roger Dornier Jr. Obituary

Roger Richard Dornier, Jr., aged 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, in his cherished home of 55 years, surrounded by his beloved wife, Loyce Ann, their children, and grandchildren. A native of Baton Rouge, Roger's life was marked by two profound successes that he held dear: his 64-year marriage to Loyce Ann, whom he lovingly described as a "devoted wife and mother," and the "growth and success of the six wonderful, intelligent, and caring women" who are the legacy of their union. Friends and family often described Roger with one phrase: "He was a great man." His family will forever remember him for his wisdom, his unique sense of humor, and his signature dance, "The Roger." The Dornier family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Hospice of Baton Rouge for the exceptional care provided during the final weeks of Roger's life, as well as Dr. David Fontenot for his years of dedication and care for Roger. Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Loyce Ann Landry Dornier; his daughters, Laura Boothby, Lanie Dornier, Lisa Dornier-Nicholson, Leslie-Dornier-Robidoux and her husband Douglas Robidoux, Lynley Dornier, and Heather Dornier Mouchon; his six grandchildren, Krystle LaFrance and her husband Jacob LaFrance, Aidan Robidoux and his wife Maryssa Buffano-Robidoux, Claire Robidoux, Bailey Dornier Luckett, Lara Nicholson, and Ayvie Mouchon; his great-granddaughter, Parker LaFrance; his brother Russell's wife Joan Dornier; his sister, Beverly Ann Roberts, and her husband George Roberts; his brothers, Randy Dornier and his partner Harriet Gaiennie, Rene Dornier and his wife Mary Sue Dornier; his sister, Melissa Dornier; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger R. Dornier Sr.; his mother, Beverly Bourgeois Dornier; and his brother, Russell L. Dornier. The family will hold a private service to honor Roger's memory at a later date.

Roger was a friend, a true gentleman and an entertainingly witty person. He, along with his friend and buddy, Dr. Benny Lopoo, was also one of the best golf course raters in the southeast. He will be missed by many.

Had the pleasure of working with Roger when he was in the CP Supers Office. He openly shared wisdom and was so thoughtful. I oft recall many of the sayings he used, especially "this too, shall pass." I will remember him as a kind and considerate man who genuinely invested in others.
