Thomas Simpson Obituary

Simpson Sr., Thomas Earl Funeral service for Thomas Earl Simpson Sr., 87, of Kentwood, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at McKneeIy Funeral Home, Kentwood. Visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Grammon and the Rev. Jim Loftin. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. Thomas Earl Simpson Sr., a native of Amite County, Miss., died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Hilltop Nursing Home in Pineville. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served overseas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kentwood and retired from the trucking business in 1990. Survivors include three sons, Thomas "Buster" Simpson and wife Charleen of Alexandria, Donnie Simpson of Kentwood and Jerry Simpson and wife Toye of Summit, Miss.; two brothers, Burnell and Bobby Simpson, both of Kentwood; four sisters, Mary Alice Blackwell of Kentwood, Bertie Hughes and Geneva Varnado, both of Osyka, Miss., and Dell Gore of Watson; seven grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Simpson and Kim Fuller, all of Alexandria, David Simpson, Kristie McClendon and Brandi Bowen, all of Summit, and Dawn Booty of Kentwood; 15 great-grandchildren and one expected. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magee Simpson; daughter-in-law, Francis Simpson; two grandchildren, Theresa and Clayton Simpson; infant son, Ronald Earl Simpson; a brother, Jewel Simpson; a sister, Reba Simpson; and parents, Oliver P. and Bertha C. Simpson, who were of Osyka.
