Alpheus Davis Obituary

Alpheus Mallette Davis, III of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on January 18, 2023. Fondly known as Al (Dad, Big Pine, Smoke, Piney, Grandad, Uncle Al, A.M.).

Al was born to Alpheus Mallette Davis, Jr., and Alice Hill Davis on September 21, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts. As a child, he developed his love of aviation which led to his time as a United States Army pilot in reconnaissance missions over Cambodia during the Vietnam War in 1968. Upon returning stateside, Al threw all his energy into opening Davis Insulation which later grew to become Davis Insulation Windows and doors, Inc. Al was passionate about playing golf, enjoying a cigar and rooting on his college alma mater, The Georgia Bulldogs (whom he got to see win their most recent National Championship!).

Al is survived by his daughters: Alice Harry and Katherine Douglas; his grandsons: Davis Harry, James and Charles Douglas; his brothers: Charlie and Rob Davis; along with his niece: Erin George; nephews: Robbie and Matt Davis and families.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Ted Clarkson officiating. The family will receive all of Al's friends who wish to show their respect and share condolences following the service.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Augusta University Health for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to them at www.augustahealth.org/give.

Al was a dear friend and cigar smoking buddy. We always got together when he came to Bristol. We all loved talking to and listening to his stories. Thank you Al for the good times,

I am so sorry to hear about Al and your recent loss. My son and I knew him through the cigar store in Bristol,Va . I´m sure a void will be felt by all and it will take time to heal . He was kind and always asked about my son whom he also knew and had conversations with when he was in Bristol. He will be missed.
