David Rhoden

1954 - 2024

David Lewis Rhoden, 69, of Lincolnton, Georgia passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Born on September 1, 1954, David was one of three children to the late Alvin Goode and Geneva Rhoden.

David was a 1971 graduate of Westside High School. After attending high school, David began his career with Georgia Power. He was also a member of the IBEW Local 1579 in Augusta, GA. After 37 years of service, he retired from Georgia Power in 2010. During his retirement, he fulfilled his joys by going to the mountains and spending countless hours hunting and fishing with his son and grandkids. David was a lover of sports. His favorite teams consisted of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves. But more than anything, he loved any team his grandchildren played for and enjoyed going to watch as many of their baseball games as possible.

David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 35 years, Diane Rhodes Rhoden; son, Jeremy Rhoden (Stephanie); daughter, Chrissy Scott (Joshua); grandchildren, Tyler Schultz; Bryar, Easton, and Lake Rhoden; Logan Strength; Grayson, Whitman, and Cora Scott; sister, Pam Parrish (Robbie); brother-in-law, Jimmy Rhodes; stepson, Jake Strength; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Austin, Ansley, Justin, and Brittany; and many other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Al Rhoden.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. A celebration of David's life will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia. Following the celebration of life, the family will receive friends and have a light reception at the clubhouse of Georgia Carolina Boat & Ski Club, 1432 Cherokee Country Club Road, Lincolnton, Georgia.
