To the Family of Peter Joseph Way. The members of Pendleton King DAV Chapter 10, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Department of Georgia DAV were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Comrade Peter Joseph Way. Comrade Way was a life member of the DAV. We have lost a great warrior, great husband, great father, and great American. We know your loss is deep, and your sorrow great, but we want you to know that we share in your sorrow, but more importantly, we recognize that the loss of Comrade Way is Heaven´s gain. You are in our heartfelt prayers. The members of Pendleton King DAV Chapter 10 and the Department of Georgia DAV thank Comrade Way for his service to our Nation and the DAV. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to his family and all who knew him. Albert Boudy, Commander, Pendleton King DAV Chapter 10

You probably do not remember us since it has been several years. My young son (about 12-13 years old at the time) an I were mountain biking at Forks Trails one summer day. Like rookies on this area I lost my sense of direction. We stopped in one of the openings near the road so I could gather my bearings. I was starting to get worried, the sun was going down and we were running out of water so I told my son to ease on drinking the little we had left. After a few minutes and out of nowhere comes out of the bushes this young biker right next to us, he looked like an angel. I stopped him to ask for help. Without hesitating he called his dad, gave him our location and he was on his way to us. I was so much relieved that help was on the way. While waiting I asked the young biker what was his name. He replied, "Joe Way". At first I though, "he is pulling my leg". You know, like I am in "your way". LOL... I did not question him. He was very respectful. A few minutes later this big pick up truck pulls over and his dad with one leg comes out of the truck (Peter Way) they grabbed our bikes put them in the back of the pick up truck together with the other bikes and we are on our way. We had the pleasure to meet his lovely wife in the back seat. She greeted us with a couple of ice cold bottles of water. And in no time they found our truck somehow with the little directions I gave them. I have no words to express my deepest gratitude and my condolences to The Way Family. My prayers are with you.

To family and friends. Sending sincere condolences and prayers.
I just saw this and still in shock! I worked with Peter at Milliken while he was our NP. He was very much appreciated by all. He was a kind soul that wanted to help people feel better.
I am so sorry. My prayers to family and friends.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Peter's passing. I knew him briefly as the brother of a close high school friend and have some fun memories of meeting and interacting with him-my deepest condolences to his family.

I knew Peter when he was a child. He was a good kid. He was Father Way's son whom I knew well. I knew the entire family. They were all decent and good human beings. I was saddened to hear of his death, especially at such a young age. If his sister, Justine, reads my post, I knew her as well and Justine, my deepest condolences. Roy Blackburn, M.D.

We are so saddened by the news of Pete's passing. Having Pete, Anne, Rory and the Way family in our Vail Vets family of alumni means the world to us all. Their friendly faces, approachable and supportive nature and open hearts helped other veterans feel welcome during our programs. It is always a pleasure spending time with or connecting with any member of the Way Family. Sending love and light to everyone, and here to support anyone in need during this time of grief.

I can´t believe another Marching Knight is being laid to rest. I was in school with Peter throughout the years and we played clarinets together in the band. Peter has always been such a kind hearted person. Over the years I have enjoyed following Peter on fb and watch his life just blossom. Especially loved all the work he did for the fur babies, they were lucky to have you on their side. Thank you for all the laughs and differences you made in so many lives. Rest peacefully and God Bless

I remember him picking me up from Walter Reed and getting me off the base and talking about cycling and dogs. And I remember coming to visit him, Anne, and Rory when he had to get a treatment done and both of us laughing and coming up with ideas for shirts.

My name is Mary P. Thomas Arbee. Peter Joseph Way called me Mrs. Thomas. I was his Windsor Forest High School homeroom teacher. That means that he was special to me. For four years we started our day at school together. I remember when he injured his leg playing soccer. I visited him at his home. His family welcomed me. I offer my sincere condolences to you, Peter's family. Know that I grieve with you.

I remember meeting him at a Guide Dog Foundation/America's Dogs board meeting, along with Rory and we rode together to the airport. What really stuck with me was his journey of surgeries, recovery and the ups and downs of the infection that he continued to have after his war wounds in his leg. He was so courageous in the face of it all. I was shocked to learn of his passing since I had just seen him on March 16 at a board meeting in New York. I am so sorry for the family's loss. He was a great guy and a great role model. Pamela Tate

I first met Peter as a coach for Nordic Skiing and Biathlon. He was there for me during my own leg amputation and motivated me into handcyling and introduced me to America´s Vet Dogs. He was always a calming voice of reason and inspiration. Until Valhalla brother.
