Alfred James Nooft, 85, of Baltimore, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 12, 1940, in Baltimore to Jessie J. Nooft and Hazel Karp , Alfred was a man of hard work, loyalty, and love. He spent 40 years working for General Motors, where his dedication and skill earned him the respect of all who knew him. After retiring, he continued to follow his passion for cars, working side-by-side with his son-in-law, Christopher Pugh and granddaughter Kimberly Pugh. Alfred's love for automobiles was unmatched-he knew everything about them and could fix just about anything with wheels. When Al was not thinking about cars, his thoughts turned to golf. He cherished his time on the course with friends, and he was known for his ability to hit the ball straight and true.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and his youngest daughter, Billie Jo Nooft-Cancel.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor "Cookie" Nooft, whom he adored throughout their life together; his daughters, Bonnie Baldwin (husband James Baldwin), Bobbie Uhl (husband Werner Uhl), and his bonus daughter, Sandra Kraft.
Of all his passions, nothing compared to the love he had for his grandchildren: Stephanie Yeager, Melissa Little, Kimberly Pugh, Jaimie Lake, Jennifer Linehan, Brandon Cancel, and Mercedes "Nikki" Panzer. He was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, who all brought him immeasurable joy.
Alfred was the best husband, father, and pop pop anyone could ask for. His presence will be deeply missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
We invite family and friends to gather in remembrance of Al for a public viewing that will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Tuesday August 19, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday August 20, 2025 at 11am followed by the interment at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
