Calvin Eugene Pugh, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, just days shy of his 84th birthday. Calvin was born on Friday, September 5th, 1941, in Virginia. He resided in Pasadena, MD for much of his life, where he created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.
Calvin served his country honorably in the United States Navy, embodying dedication and commitment to the values he held dear. Later, he worked at Giant Food as a clerk for 25 years, retiring in 1996. His colleagues remember him as a dependable and friendly face, always ready with a joke and a helping hand.
A man of many interests, Calvin was a life member of the American Legion in Damascus #171 and a past usher at St. Jane Frances Catholic Church, where he married his beloved wife, Joanne. Together, they built a life focused on family and community.
His hobbies included bowling, fishing, and crabbing, and he was an avid fan of both the Orioles and Ravens. Calvin also enjoyed playing corn hole and was always active and young at heart, often walking 1-3 miles a day. He delighted in helping his neighbors, consistently offering his time and energy to those around him.
Calvin is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Joanne Pugh; son Calvin "Butch" E. Pugh and his wife Teresa; daughter Tracey M. Fisk and her husband Jeff. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Calvin "Chip" Pugh, III and his wife Erin, Garrett Fisk, and Joseph Fisk; as well as his great-grandson Dayton Pugh. He was predeceased by his parents, Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth Pugh, and brothers Frank and James Pugh.
Family and friends are invited to honor Calvin's life at funeral service to be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at 11:00 am. Viewings will be at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a
charity of your choice in Calvin's memory, celebrating his enduring spirit of generosity and kindness.
Calvin's legacy of love, humor, and community service will be cherished by all who were privileged to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his full and active life.
