David Myers Obituary

On April 29, 2025, David Haddon Myers passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Woodbine, Maryland. He was predeceased by his father, Lester W. Myers, his mother Marguerite Haddon Laager, sister Patricia M. Slemmer (James), brother Lester C. Myers (Bernice Ayers), son-in-law David P. Flynn and granddaughter Claire Myers. David spent his early years in Haddonfield, New Jersey and graduated from Haddonfield Memorial high school in 1957. He attended Drexel Institute of Technology and earned his degree in Commerce and Engineering in 1962. During his time at Drexel, David played lacrosse and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After college, David served in the U.S. Air Force in the Strategic Air Command (SAC). First Lieutenant Myers received the Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement as Communicators Officer of SAC Foreign Legion Tanker Task Force. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to his home in Audubon, New Jersey caring for his recently widowed mother. David had a long and successful career as the owner of a manufacturer's representative firm covering the states of Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia. He served for a time as President of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Electronics Representatives Association (ERA). The Myers family enjoyed many summers visiting the New Jersey shore and traveling the country in their motor coach. After retiring in 1998, David and his wife, Betty spent nearly twenty years in Vero Beach, Florida. He found great joy in surf fishing, long walks with Betty socializing and dancing with friends and loved ones. His most passionate hobby was restoring antique and classic cars, along with attending numerous car shows, many of which he received awards for his meticulous cars. David is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 57 years, sons David L. (Jaclyn Taylor), Christopher S. (Jennifer Hickey), Eric K. (Deniz Karahasan) and daughter Marguerite F. (Michael L. Grabenstein), 11 energetic grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was a devote member of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Mt. Airy, Maryland for 53 years. In lieu of flowers please feel free to send a gift donation to Saint Michael Church, 1125 Saint Micheal's Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 or Gilchrist Center Howard County, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia, Maryland 21044. A memorial mass will be held on at 11 AM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Inurnment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. Online condolences may be offered at www.haightfuneralhome.com

David was a kind and caring family member who gave excellent life and career advice. Our family always enjoyed spending time with him, especially in Cape May, NJ each September at our family reunion. He will be missed dearly.
