Dawn Elaine Simpson, 67 of Dundalk, passed away Thursday July 17, 2025. She was the mother of Jennifer Wood and husband Brian and the late Mark Simpson Jr., grandmother of Michael Wood and Janae Johnson, Tyler Wood and Torgan and Emily McFeaters, sister of Jackie Umphlett and husband Bill.
Dawn had a passion for helping her community and devoted an endless amount of time to Rec sports and The Optimist Club of Dundalk. She spent many years building and running the Dundalk Rec Softball program where she touched and shaped the lives of so many girls. Even though softball was her heart she also supported all local sports as well as the Boy scouts, girl scouts, James Ransom Camp and any other program that needed help. in the most recent years Dawn put all of her time and energy into the Optimist club of Dundalk where she held the position of President and she took that job very seriously. Dawns legacy will live on through all the lives she has touched throughout the years.
Dawn chose daycare as her lifelong career and she made a difference in the lives of so many children. She treated each child like they were family, they were her babies and she was their Dawnie. Her doors were always open for everyone and anyone and she showed them all the true meaning of unconditional love. She was caring, nurturing, calm, understanding, compassionate the list goes on. She did what she loved and it was obvious just by listening to her talk about her kids.
