He was preceded in death by his father, Early Halterman; mother, Stella Wimer; and previous wife, Linda Halterman.

On your first anniversary of your demise, Laura and I have our memories of your kindness and generosity over the years that you shared your life with us. We will always appreciate your help in getting Laura established at Davidson College, then her subsequent colleges in Tampa, U of Colorado and U of NM as well as being there when she received her scholarships. You were so kind to all my office mates who looked forward to all your visits when you'd bring some "treats" for us all. Mostly, I appreciate the kindness shown Mom when she was sick.... participating in her Memorial and helping Dad when he was on his own, golfing and fishing with him. Thank you for all of it.

Always great memories of your birthday celebrations whether it was a lovely dinner at home or at one your favorite restaurants, a trip somewhere and always chocolate cake was involved. Since we spent a lot of time in Colorado with my daughter, you were so kind to help her with her new home, and she returned the favors many times especially on your birthday. One special memory is when she took us to Glenwood Springs and Aspen. And I was so happy that you loved the concerts at Red Rocks. You loved Red Rocks as much as I did, and you loved exploring Colorado. You were always such a good sport with a big smile on your face! RIP now.

We shared so many of your birthdays in June usually by traveling somewhere special. Therefore, June brings back many wonderful memories that we made together whether it was that amazing drive down Big Sur, Jeep rides in Sedona, the train trip in CO, being a good sport and taking me to my favorite concert venue, Red Rocks many time, visiting Laura in Santa Fe although one of my favorite trips was when you took me for that lovely excursion down Slyline Drive. With all the traveling I had done, I had never been to the Shenandoah area (circa '99), and I have that memory today. Thank you for always making my birthdays special but also for making your birthdays extraordinary as well. Thank you, and RIP dear man. You tried being a good man to so many, and you succeeded.

Thought of you this Valentines Day since you always made it so special whether it was dining out, a surprise trip, roses sent to the office (especially purple ones), and always chocolate was involved. haha And you always included Laura in your gifting on this day. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered, not just to me but to my daughter and to my parents especially when they were both ill. You were always there to help them all. Now, it's time to RIP.

My condolences to Earl's family. I will always appreciate his assisting me (and my Mom) in setting up my first dorm at Davidson as well as all the other help in my sequent moves including my first new home in Boulder where I taught at the University of Co for several years. He encouraged me to take courses at Home Depot to learn how to make wood-working projects, install my own floor, etc., and I was so excited when he came to see the finished home. He was always just a phone call away for help and advice. His kindness to me and my mother will always be remembered and cherished. I will also be forever thankful to how kind he was to my grandmother when she was in the hospital for a long time before her demise. He visited her everyday, bringing her a vanilla milkshake. It was such kindness that he was known for, and that's what I will always remember. RIP.
