Ellen Irene "Renie" Mathis

In Loving Memory of Ellen Irene "Renie" (Jones) Mathis Ellen Irene " Renie" (Jones) Mathis, 80, of West Friendship, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. Born on July 8, 1945, in Glenwood, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Dewey "Casey" Jones and Grace Geraldine (Ramey) Jones. Renie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny L. Mathis. She is survived by her sons; Danny Mathis Jr. of West Friendship and Dale Mathis (Denise) of West Friendship. She was the proud grandmother of five and great-grandmother of ten, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Richard "Sonny" Jones, and was preceded in death by her four other siblings, as well as by her six half-siblings. Renie dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Howard County Public Scholl System, where she began as a custodian and then cafeteria manager. She was known for her hard work, kindness, and the warm smile that brightened every room. Above all, Renie cherished time spent with her family. Her happiest moments were those surrounded by her loved ones and faithful dogs, Snuggles and Matty. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Renie's life at Haight Funeral Home in Eldersburg, Maryland. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 5-7 P.M., and Tuesday morning from 10 A.M.-12:00 P.M., followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 P.M.
