Susan Byrd Harris
September 8, 1949 — July 9, 2025
Susan Byrd Harris of Denton, MD departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born in Washington, D.C. to the late David C. and Marjorie M. Byrd, loving and devoted mother of David C. Harris (Kim) and grandmother of Ashley M. Harris and Nathan C. Harris. Susan is survived by her sisters Cynthia M. Varnado (Jeffery-deceased) and Pamela J. Morris (Patrick). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Elizabeth M. Dassing, Patrick W. Morris, Sarah K. Varnado and Anthony D. Varnado, great-nephew Oliver R. Dassing and great-niece Ava R. Dassing.
Susan grew up in Suitland, Maryland and Forestville, Maryland. She attended Suitland High School and graduated in 1967. After graduation she attended Towson University and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in business from the University of Redlands in California. She worked for the Xerox Corporation from 1984 to 2011 when she retired. After years of living in Virginia to be close to her son, she moved to Denton, Maryland on the Eastern Shore which was a dream of hers for years. She enjoyed her family and played cards and games with her friends in her community. Her favorite vacation spot was Ocean City, Maryland.
Services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20715. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Compass Hospice, 160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 or The American Cancer Society A private family burial will be held at a later date.
