Kara Hammann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 31, 2026.
On March 25, 2026, Kara Rae Hammann (nee Yeager); beloved wife of Joseph J. Hammann; devoted mother of Brooke, Brady, and Grayson Hammann, and her four-legged children Tucker and Marley; loving daughter of Judith (nee Hooten) and Roger Yeager; cherished sister of Brett Yeager, and his wife Jenna; cherished sister-in-law of John Hammann, Mary Jo James, and her husband Al; loving aunt to Cameron, Aleia, Lyndsey, Aaron, Jamie, and Alan; also survived by extended family and friends.
Kara was welcomed into God's arms after her brave battle against brain cancer. She faced her illness with fierce strength and courage, and "kept punching" years beyond her initial prognosis. She always put family first and her love for them was unmatched. Her unwavering Faith in God gave her great peace and comfort throughout every stage of life and lifted her up during some of the darkest days brought on by her illness. She was a loyal friend, to those she grew up with in Timonium and Cockeysville (including her beloved Whirlies); to those she met in the classrooms and on the sports fields at Dulaney High School, Roanoke College, and Towson State University; to those she worked with at ADP and in the real estate business; and to those unbreakable bonds formed in the community of Hereford, where she and her husband raised their family.
Besides Family, Faith, and Friends, one of Kara's true loves was animals, especially her beloved dogs Aspen, Francie, Sully, and Henry (all who she's now loving in Heaven), and Tucker & Marley, who never left her side during her lengthy battle. She also loved sports and played them all from childhood through high school, before going onto play field hockey and lacrosse while studying at Roanoke College. But there was no sport she loved more than tennis. She enjoyed the competition and camaraderie on the courts her entire life up until her health would no longer allow her to play and she especially loved her years competing in the Hereford Ladies Tennis League. She was also a loyal fan of the game and especially loved watching the four majors each year while cheering on her favorites like Coco, Carlos, and "Big Foe".
Friends may call at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Rd. (beltway exit 26), on Tuesday, April 7th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Hunt Valley Church,13015 Beaver Dam Rd., Hunt Valley, Maryland, 21030, on Wednesday, April 8th at 10 AM. Private interment following the Funeral Service.
