James Culberson Obituary

James Arthur Culberson, 85, of Mayflower, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.
He was born in El Dorado, to the late David Arthur and Nettie Marie (Harper) Culberson.
He served as an Ensign (D) L USNR officer during World War II; he served on Battleship USS Wisconsin in the Pacific and in Japan. After the war, James dedicated his life to the service of God and to others. He used his degree from Louisiana Tech to develop land and build houses in Faulkner and Pulaski counties.
James was very active in AA and also co-founded the GYST House in Little Rock, which has helped thousands of people take the steps to overcome alcohol and drug addiction. Jim loved to hunt and fish and passed that love to his family.
Friends will remember James for his unconditional love and tireless devotion to ensure his wife and children received the best life possible.
James is survived by his wife, Lynda Culberson; five children, Jeanne DeVries, James Culberson, David Culberson, Eric Culberson and Lori Culberson; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Antioch Baptist Church in Conway.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
Burial will be held 11 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
