Louis Seifert Obituary

Seifert, Louis

Louis Seifert, 95, of Largo, FL, a 41-year resident of Peekskill, died peacefully March 1, 2014. Born in Haledon, NJ, Mr. Seifert worked as a sewing machine mechanic at Nan Flower Lingerie, and later as a Vocational Instructor with the Dept. Of Corrections. He was a 1976 graduate of SUNY Oswego. Mr. Seifert was an Army veteran of WWll who served with the 29th Division throughout Europe. Lou was a life member of the DAV and of Columbian Engine Co., where he held the offices of Fire Trustee, Captain, President and Financial Secretary. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Seifert was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 yrs., the former Anne Decker, in 2008; a sister, Berne Heres; brothers, Arthur and Edward, and a grandson, Darren Seifert. He is survived by a son, Louis H. (Toni), of Peekskill; a daughter, Ruth Anne (Dale), of Lafayette; grandchildren, Drew and Dana Seifert of Peekskill, and Craig Louis Shute of Lafayette. The family would like to thank Mrs. Gail Burdick for her loving care over the last 6 yrs.

Spring burial with full military honors will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
