Michael Pizzolatto, born in Jennings, Louisiana, on Aug. 28, 1951, passed away at his home in New Orleans on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at the age of 72 following a recurrence of cancer. Mike's final months were spent surrounded by a wide circle of family and friends recalling shared memories and adventures.
Mike lived a life of service to his family and community. As a nurse he cared for thousands of patients during a five-decade career in Louisiana and Arkansas. As a husband, father, brother, uncle or neighbor, Mike served as a steady presence and generously offered his time to those in need. He was known for a bone dry sense of humor and an endless curiosity about the world around us.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Landry Pizzolatto; children, Michael Pizzolatto (Danielle), Sarah Pizzolatto and Luke Pizzolatto (Cara); grandchildren, Gabriel, Cecilia, Dominic, Noelle, Corinne; siblings Stephanie Parrino, Connie Getter (Robert), Mark Pizzolatto (Marie), Peter Pizzolatto (Mary) and Theresa Galvis (Salty); as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family members.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Suzanne Pizzolatto; siblings, Nicholas Pizzolatto Jr. and Elizabeth "Beth" Chauvin; and brother-in-law, Peter Parrino.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose, Louisiana, from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Entombment of the urn to follow at the church mausoleum.
