Michael Sardinha Obituary

Michael Arnolda Sardinha, 58, of Conway, Ark., passed away on the morning of May 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike continued working actively to fulfill his passion for improving food quality and safety globally until a few days before his battle with cancer ended.
Mike was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on Oct. 29, 1954.
He developed his tireless work ethic while growing up on his family's farm, and his interest in mechanical engineering came from the time he spent with his dad riding and working on motorcycles. When Mike was 17 he joined the South African Defense Force as a Noncommissioned Officer. After the military, he earned degrees in automation, robotics, and business leadership from the University of Witwatersrand and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Mike and the love of his life, Liana, moved to the US in 1996 and the entire family became citizens by 2011.
He founded the company CAT Squared in 1995 with his partners Vernon Smith and Stef Schoeman. Mike's vision and innovations in food safety and quality have changed the global food industry. Today, CAT Squared's customers span 6 continents and help food companies ensure quality and safe food for millions of people around the world.
Mike is survived by his wife, Liana; his daughters, whom he treasured more than anything in this world, Alana Sullivan and her husband Jacob, Lynn Shaw and her husband Tony, Vera White and her husband Justin, and Micah; his grandchildren, Julienne, Jarrett, Taylor, and Trent; and numerous other loving friends and relatives.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on May 28 at the First United Methodist Church, 6701 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark., followed by lunch in the dining room.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
