My first assignment in the Marine Corps was in 1960 as a Private in Captain Shunkey's unit, 2nd Light Support Co. 3rd Marine Division. Okinawa. I was 18 years old and wet behind the ears. I later retired in 1996 as a LtCol. The "Captain" will always be someone I remember with reverence and respect. He was a gentleman and a fine officer. I was just "surfing" the net and found his obit. I'm sorry for his passing and all my sympathy to his family. "Another Old Marine Going Home". God bless him

My heartfelt condolences to the family. May you continue to cherish the memories you have and remember that God is there for us like it tells us 1 Peter 5:6,7. I hope you continue to feel the love and support from your family and friends.
