Salinas

Ignacio Galindo passed away peacefully on the morning of October 14, 2015 at the age of 96, in Salinas. He was born near the city of Bracketville, Texas on July 31, 1919. Ignacio was the son of Alvina Arispe and Estanislao Galindo. He was the youngest son of seven boys and one girl ( all deceased).

After high school, Ignacio joined the Air Force and flew 35 aerial bombardment missions over Germany, Holland, France and Italy. His bomber crew joined the 491st Bombardment Group at Medfield, England. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters for these missions during WWII. After being discharged, he enrolled and graduated from USC in 1950.

Ignacio will be remembered by his knowledge and love for politics. He always had wisdom to share and memories to last a life time.

He was married to the late Elida Valdez Galindo and had three children: twin boys, Dennis (deceased), Stanley (unknown) and daughter, Lyda Marie Sera. (Jerry) He is also survived by his grandson, Jason, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.

Burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907. The reception to follow at Knights of Columbus Hall, 920 Old Stage Rd., Salinas, CA 93908.

A special thanks to the VNA Hospice for their care and support they provided through a difficult time in our life.

Did not want to share with you that I have hospitalized since Sept 29th and got out of UCLA Westwood Oct 25.
Had a good time talking to you.
