I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I had the privilege to know him in his capacity as counselor, but also as the father of my friends Lynn and Carrie. His dry sense of humor is legend among students, friends and colleagues, and he could be just as funny at home in the moment. Jim treated students as equals, giving many a first taste of mentoring for adulthood. I spent more than one family vacation with Collier's at Donner Lake, always so welcomed and included.
I had hoped to see you again Jim. Thank you for so many ways that you touched my life, the many wonderful memories. Consider yourself hugged. Give one to Joan too. My deepest condolences to Lynn, Carrie, Scott and Julie.
Love,
Ruth

I was just remembering Mr. Collier (aka Carrie's Dad)the other day and how he would drive us all home after school. Great sense of humor! My condolences to all of you.

Mr. Collier was a longtime family friend and neighbor who shared his stories of being a POW with me when I was a teenager -- and his accounts opened my eyes to the sacrifices Veterans have made for our country - thank you Mr. Colllier for your service, guidance and friendship.

It has been a privilege knowing Jim. He had such a reflective way of seeing life and was always gracious with sharing his views. He is already missed. With sincere sympathy to his family, MJ
