DANIEL ZIMMER Obituary

DANIEL JOSEPH ZIMMER It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Daniel Joseph Zimmer, a resident of McKinney, Texas, who passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 59. Born in Benton, Illinois, on May 10, 1966, Daniel was the eldest of 5 children. From a young age, Daniel displayed a strong will, uncanny sense of humor, and deep love for those he was close to. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise, an experience that shaped his enduring character and instilled in him a lifelong respect for discipline, integrity, and service. Daniel was a devoted husband to his wife of 30 years, Michelle Zimmer, and a loving father to their two sons, Chasen and Lucas, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen Volpato; his siblings Kristine Dees and husband Scot, Kendra Paz and husband Edgar, Susan Sharknas, and John David Sharknas; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Zimmer, and stepfather John Sharknas. Daniel lived life with a deep appreciation for the simple things. He loved movies, board games, and card nights with family and friends. He found peace in gardening, joy in cooking, and adventure in golfing, skiing, and motorcycle rides. Whether he was planning the next family meal, riding through the canyons, or enjoying time outdoors, Daniel savored the moments that made life meaningful. A private memorial will be held on August 30, 2025, in Colorado, surrounded by his closest family. His ashes will be spread on his family's land in Westcliffe, Colorado his final resting place among the mountains he cherished and visited throughout his life. Daniel's legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
