Marjie Kiefer Obituary

MARJIE KIEFER The Trinidad Carnegie Public Library and the broader Trinidad community mourn the loss of Marjie Kiefer, a dedicated advocate for public libraries and a beloved community leader whose contributions spanned over a decade. Marjie began her service to the library in 2012-2013 when she joined the Library Board. Her steadfast commitment to library services quickly became evident. In 2014, she took on the leadership of the Books & More bookstore, a volunteer-run nonprofit that operates under the Friends of the Library. Under Marjie's guidance, Books & More became a cornerstone of library programming support, with proceeds directly funding public events, classes, and community initiatives. Marjie never sought recognition or applause. She ran the bookstore out of a deep passion for reading, access to information, and community connection. She managed not only the day-to-day operations, but also the behind-the-scenes workhandling finances, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring the bookstore remained a welcoming place for all. Her quiet dedication made a lasting impact. Today, the Books & More bookstore is working to find its footing without her. As a volunteer-run business, it faces challenges in the absence of the strong leadership Marjie provided so selflessly. Her role was more than operationalit was foundational. Marjie was truly irreplaceable. Her devotion extended beyond the bookstore and into every corner of the community she loved so dearly. Her work was always supported and encouraged by her husband, Paul Kiefer, who stood beside her in every endeavor. We remember Marjie not only for what she did, but for how she did itwith heart, humility, and unwavering dedication. Her legacy will continue to inspire those of us committed to service, literacy, and community.
