Steven Cook Obituary

Steven Charles Cook, 77, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away September 9, 2021.
He was born December 18, 1943, to Albert and Teresa (Rizzi) Cook in Trinidad, Colorado.
Steve attended high school at Trinidad High School and graduated in 1961. Steve continued his education at Trinidad Junior College earning his AA. He went on to attend Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. He graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a double major.
Steve proudly served in the Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1970. Steve worked in Colorado Springs first with the Job Service where he was crucial to helping many people find employment. Through the Job Service he became involved with the federal program, Work Opportunity Tax Credits. Based upon his involvement and experience with the program, Steve then went on to launch his own consulting business, Business Consulting Concepts. His business was successful for over thirty-four years. Steve also loved skiing and was a ski instructor at Monarch Ski Area.
Most of all Steve enjoyed and pursued his love of music his entire life. His band, Nuthin' Fancy... Just Good Music, performed throughout the Colorado Springs area for over twenty-five years. The band recorded a CD that included original songs that Steve wrote and performed on the CD. His joy and love of music touched many, many lives.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Albert Cook; mother, Teresa Cook; and sister, Gerry Peterson (Harold Peterson).
He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate of fifteen years, Susan LaVine. Steve was a big part of Susan's children's and grandchildren's lives. Steve is also survived by his sister, Albertine Beakley (Joe Beakley); nephew, Steven Beakley, (Lee Hancock); and nieces, Sherry Falagrady (Robert Falagrady), and Kristi Peterson (Jane Harmer).
Steve was a loving, compassionate, gentle, generous, fun-loving person who enjoyed and loved life to the fullest. Anyone who met Steve was immediately a friend. He had a generous spirit and donated his time and music to help many organizations and foundations.
