MANSFIELD
Albert F. Menditto Jr, 85, of Mansfield CT, passed away at home early Tuesday morning May 6th.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol (Price) Menditto, of Mansfield and his children, Teresa Samuels and fianc, Tom Gadzik, Garrick Menditto and wife, Libby, and Audra Evans and husband, Pete. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Ryan Vigue, Justin Samuels (Alexa), Matthew Samuels (Crystal), Willa Menditto, Eli Menditto, Samantha Evans, and Jill Evans. He also leaves behind his sister, Joanne Miles and her husband, Ray.
Albie was born on July 26th 1939, the son of the late Albert and Carolyn (Bragg) Menditto Sr of Willimantic. He graduated from Windham High School and later attended University of Hartford earning a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. He worked over 40 years for Electric Boat, starting out in the shipyard building submarines and advancing to the finance department where he spent the majority of his career. Before EB Albie joined the Army Reserves for 4 years as an Enlisted Specialist.
In his retirement, Albie loved to travel. His many trips included Florida to visit friends, a few trips to Italy, a variety of Caribbean destinations, and local trips around the northeast. His travels were always with his wife Carol and often included his sister Joanne and brother-in-law Ray.
Albie had a deep love for history and was often found immersed in documentaries about the past. He stayed well-informed on current events and had a remarkable knack for remembering fascinating facts, making him a standout at Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.
Albie was a driving enthusiast and never required a map to find his way, he seemingly had an internal GPS and could find his way anywhere. Until recently, he could often be seen zooming around town evading police radar in his Camaro.
Family and friends are invited to honor Albie's life during visiting hours on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic. His funeral service will be held at Potter Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
