Edward Shaffer Obituary

Edward Franklin "Frank" Shaffer, 73, of Central Ave., Brookville, Pa., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Frank was born on Feb. 27, 1944, in Punxsutawney, Pa., the son of George Shaffer and Marjorie Mohney Shaffer who preceded him in death.
On July 7, 1967, he married the love of his life, Linda Neiswonger, who survives, at the Zion Methodist Church in Brookville, Pa. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Frank was a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Korea during the early Vietnam era, and after being honorably discharged he worked as a mechanic, for PennDOT, but most will remember him from working for Blake's Hardware in Brookville, later ACE Hardware in Brookville, proudly serving customers for over 46 years.
He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church on Rt. 36 in Brookville, Pa., and was a 1962 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
Frank was a loving husband and father. He was an enthusiastic dirt track racing fan, frequenting tracks across PA and NY, and loved to watch NASCAR racing as well. He also loved to spend time in his garden, watching birds, and manicuring his lawn. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed working with people.
He is the loving Father of Frank Shaffer of Brookville, Pa., Robert Shaffer and wife Jodee of Reedsville, Pa., and Michele Shaffer and partner Matthew Gross of Vashon, Wash. Frank is also survived by two sisters, Arletta Demko of Punxsutawney, Pa., and Donna Hoffman and Husband Donald of Florida, one aunt, Tib Snyder of Timblin, Pa., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Shaffer; and one brother, Tom Shaffer.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home, 153 Jefferson St., Brookville, Pa.
A funeral service in his memory will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the Peterson Funeral Home in Brookville with the Rev. Dale Livermore officiating. Interment will take place in the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made to the Zion Untied Methodist Church, Rt. 36N, Brookville, PA 15825, or the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Peterson Funeral Home, 153 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825.
