John Markalonis Obituary

John Markalonis, 76, died January 14, 2018, at home in Signal Hill, California.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Stella Polisky Markalonis.
He graduated from St. Catherine's High School in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
John then served six years in the Navy as a Radar Electronics Technician in the Pacific during the Vietnam War era. He graduated from California State University Long Beach cum laude with a BA in mathematics while working in the Naval shipyard. He later worked on air defense systems in the aircraft industry.
John brought his love of hunting and fishing, which began in Pennsylvania, with him to California, Alaska, Montana, and elsewhere.
He is survived by brothers Bill Markalonis and Fr. Joe Markalonis TOR, sister Mary Ann Millar (Bill) and nieces and nephews in Texas and California.
The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's church with Fr. Joe Markalonis TOR as celebrant. Burial at St. Joseph's cemetery in DuBois.
