Marsha Abrams Obituary

Marsha I. Abrams, of DuBois, PA, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 - just two days after the passing of her beloved husband, Dr. Albert Abrams. Their love story spanned more than 50 years, and those who knew them found comfort in the thought that they are together once again.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother (affectionately known as "Mimi"), sister, and friend, Marsha leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Born on April 28, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, Marsha was the daughter of the late Louis and Laura Tretin. On July 2, 1972, she married the love of her life, Albert, whom she met at Brandeis University. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and countless family memories.

Marsha earned her bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and worked as the office manager for her husband's medical practice, Lehigh Rheumatology, in Allentown, PA, from 1980 to 2015. After relocating to DuBois, she continued working alongside Albert at Penn Highlands Hospital until their passing.

Known for her warm smile and impeccable sense of style, Marsha had a particular love for fashion - her colorful scarves became her signature. She embraced life with warmth and kindness, and her presence brightened any room.

Marsha was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She was a constant source of love, encouragement, and strength, always placing her children and grandchildren at the center of her world. Whether cheering from the sidelines, preparing a special family meal, or offering quiet support during difficult moments, Marsha's love knew no bounds.

An active member of the Jewish community, Marsha was a member of Temple Beth El in Allentown, PA, and Congregation Brit Shalom in State College, PA.

Marsha will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marsha is survived by her two loving children, Louis Abrams and his wife Jenny, and Rachel Abrams; her son-in-law, David Kessler; and her cherished grandchildren, Henry, Abraham, and Matthew Kessler, and Maxwell Abrams. She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Marion Kessler and Elliot Abrams, whose memories she carried in her heart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Brit Shalom (donations to be sent to 620 E. Hamilton Ave, State College, PA 16801) or the Basser Center for BCRA at Penn Medicine (donations to be sent to the Basser Center for BRCA c/o Carolyn Brown, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or online at basser.org/donate).

Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences may be made at www.kochfuneralhome.com.

May her memory be a blessing.

Such a beautiful person! I will always remember how truly kind and caring you were. Your precious smile and your warmth lit up the waiting area. The love you had for your husband was so obvious. I enjoyed seeing and talking with you at every appointment. May you rest in peace with Albert in the arms of the Lord. You both will be missed very much! Nobody will ever be able to replace either one of you!

My deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. & Mrs. Albert Abrams. The doctor was outstanding with his knowledge & helped so many people. He took time with each patient & didn't rush. He cared. Marsha was equally as helpful & kind in visiting their practice on a regular basis. They will be truly missed.
