Robert Brubaker Obituary
Robert E. Brubaker (Bob), 94, passed away peacefully on his 94th birthday, December 7, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona, with a fitting end to a remarkable life, lived fully and with purpose. Born in Rockton, Pennsylvania, Bob was the third of seven children of William and Kathleen Brubaker. From an early age, he stood out for his leadership and athleticism, serving as quarterback of the DuBois High School football team, and participating in both wrestling and baseball.
Following graduation, Bob served his country with honor as a naval officer. His work aboard submarines took him around the world, including deployments to Guantanamo Bay, the Netherlands, and Portugal, and sparked a lifelong passion for engineering. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University where he became a proud member of Delta Upsilon, DU.
In December of 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Josephine Mahaffey. Together, they raised three children-Bob, Ruth, and Kathy-and built a life rooted in family, adventure, and hard work. In 1969, the family relocated to Nogales, Arizona, where Bob became President and CEO of ASJ Electronics, a pioneering twin plant operation in Mexico. As an international businessman and engineer, he traveled extensively across Asia and beyond, distributing his company's products around the globe. Bob visited all 50 U.S. states and 28 countries over the course of his lifetime. After decades of professional success, he retired and spent his later years between Nogales and Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by family and the desert landscapes he loved. He was a wonderful mentor to his children and an outstanding grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth; his grandchildren, Bob, Brian, Morgan, and Allyson; and his great-grandchild, Reagan. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine, and his children, Bob and Kathy.
Bob will be remembered as a brilliant mind, a disciplined leader, a witty storyteller, and a deeply devoted father and grandfather. His legacy of hard work, wisdom, and humor lives on in the hearts of those of us who loved him.
Forever in our hearts and minds
We will be having a service for him Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Rockton Church with an internment at Rockton Cemetery to follow.
