Celesta A. Dudley, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Hagerstown on July 10, 1941, the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Myers) Belt and graduated from Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle.
Celesta continued her education, graduating from Ball State University with her BA and MA in Education. She later completed her MLS from Indiana University.
She taught kindergarten and was a substitute teacher for many years and completed her working career as the Children's Librarian with New Castle-Henry County Public Libraries.
Celesta was a fifty year member of Pythian Sister Venus Temple #53, Theta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi for over twenty years, the Hartford City Red Hat Society, along with High Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold Dudley; a daughter Karen (Monty) Tuttle; three granddaughters, Brandy, Brittany and Brylie Tuttle; a great-granddaughter, Sophie; two sisters, Cheryl (Michael) Perry and Cathy (Larry) Lenceski; also surviving are her aunts and uncles, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darren Dudley; her father during World War II; her mother; and her step-father, Paul E. Stinson.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery, Hagerstown at a later date.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary.
