Chris Lundy, 79, of New Castle, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at home with her family by her side. Chris met her many health challenges with remarkable strength, courage, and determination.
She was born on October 15, 1945, in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of James Leonard Bicknell and the late Thelma Lee (Garvin) Bicknell.
Chris was a 1963 graduate of Hagerstown High School and married Marvin "Buster" Lundy on January 25, 1964. For over 30 years, Chris worked as a Food Product Development Technician for Brooks Food in Mt. Summit until its closing, and then worked for Draper Shade for eight years.
A people person with a generous heart, Chris would give to anyone in need and never knew a stranger. She loved grocery shopping because she loved talking with people and "people watching." There was no one more dedicated to their friends and family than Chris. She was a foodie, loved country music, and enjoyed taking her dogs to the dog park.
Most importantly, Chris was a loving grandma who never missed an event her grandchildren were involved in, whether it was local or many states away.
In addition to her father, Leonard Bicknell, of Hagerstown, those left to cherish Chris's memory include her two children, Tammy (Brad) Cadwallader of Modoc and Troy (Terri) Lundy of Franklin; two grandchildren, McKenna (Josh) Fewell of Franklin and Max (Camille) Lundy of Shelbyville; two sisters, Kathy Walter of Franklin and Jackie (Gary) Daffron of Cromwell; two brothers, Mike (Brenda) Bicknell and David (Becky) Bicknell both of Hagerstown; a sister-in-law, Carolyn McCall of New Castle; a special aunt and uncle, Doris and Joe Warvel of Hagerstown; a special friend, Donna Burris of New Castle, and several aunts, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Marvin "Buster" Lundy Jr., in 2010; her mother, Thelma Bicknell, in 2021; her mother-in-law, Dorothy (James) Lundy Welliver; her sisters-in-law, Debbie Lundy, Becky Bicknell, and Nancy Young; a brother-in-law, Ross Walter, and a special friend, Jody Adkins.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2021, at Sproles Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor David Cassidy officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
