Mark Carter Obituary

Mark L Carter, 61, of New Castle passed after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born August 29, 1960 in New Castle to William L. and Bonnie Lou (Craig) Carter.

A 1978 graduate of Delta High School in Muncie, Mark was presently a Maintenance Supervisor at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis where he had been employed for over 20 years. A consummate handyman, Mark was always available to share his knowledge on how to repair anything for anyone. He knew how to fix it! Although very knowledgeable, his humility brought utmost respect.

A great role model to his children, he taught and led by example. He enjoyed being outdoors, and spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Robin L. Carter of New Castle; three children, Emily L. (Adam) Doss of Noblesville, Brody J. (Stephanie) Carter of El Paso, TX, and Heather V. (Kyle) Whitney of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Zeke and Tatum Doss, and Levi Carter; his mother, Bonnie Lou Carter of Springfield, VA; siblings, Cindy Carter of Springfield, VA, Lori (John) Niehoff of Burke, VA, Greg (Beth) Carter of Burke, VA, Larry (Karen) Carter of Ft. Wayne, Brent (Jill) Carter of Birmingham, AL; aunts, Edna Wheeler of New Castle, Blanche (Ed) Thompson of New Castle and Kathy (Greg) McQueen of Farmland; uncle, George (Zita) Carter of New Castle; cousin, Nancy (Brian) Conway of New Castle; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Carter; a niece, Amber Niehoff; uncles, Don and Joe Carter, and Scotty Wheeler; aunts, Margaret Hall and Emogene Carter.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown with Patrick Carter officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.

On behalf of his gracious medical team, led by Dr. Rushing at Simon Cancer Center, memorial contributions may be given to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, 9899 Main St. #204, Damascus, MD 20872 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
