Ovadine Faye Young Downs, age 73, a New Castle resident, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Heritage House of New Castle. She was born January 3, 1948 in Jamestown, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Veland and Marjorie Helm Guffey.
Ovadine was a New Castle resident most of her life, and a graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She had worked for Cantrell Cleaners for 35 years and for Henry County Hospital in housekeeping for the surgery department. Ovadine loved music, dancing, and was a seamstress.
She is survived by three children, Rena Huffman, Stacey (husband, Charles) Cox, and Aaron Young, all of New Castle, Indiana; four grandchildren, Teagan Huffman, Keith Cox (Jessica), Chris Cox, and Courtney Cox, all of New Castle, Indiana; several cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Keith Young, and her second husband, Billy Downs; a great-grandchild, Waylon Cox.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Reverend Max Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 12:00 p.m., until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral directors and staff are honored to serve the Downs family.
