Joyce Hood Obituary

Joyce Dale Hood, 78, passed away on May 28, 2025 in Gainesville, Georgia.
A true Georgia native, she was born on May 5, 1947 in Dahlonega, Georgia. Joyce dedicated much of her life to caring for others in her calling as a nurse. She was honored by nurses at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in her last hours in a special ceremony. She was a proud alumnus of Lumpkin County High School and furthered her education at North Georgia College.
Joyce was deeply rooted in her community and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Spirituality became an essential part of her being, giving her strength as she completed her journey.
She could often be found crocheting, gardening, traveling, and doing genealogical research. She took great pride in her noble ancestors. She loved the North Georgia mountains, always calling them home.
She leaves behind her loving husband Marvin Hood, her daughter Joy Rebello, son-in-law Daniel Rebello, granddaughter Laura Rebello, and grandson-in-law Cade Malone. Cousin Jana Crane Burnett, brother-in-law Jim Hood, and nephew Greg Hood stood by her side until her last breath. Several other members of the extended family also survive.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Eugene Dale and Lula Odom Dale.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Siloam Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Dahlonega, Georgia. The family invites friends and family to join them in remembering her life. Food will be served, with potluck contributions welcome.
In honoring Joyce's giving spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the TLC Humane Society in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Joyce's vivaciousness, compassion, and loyalty will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
