GENE MATALUCCI Obituary

Gene T. Matalucci, 67, of Vineland passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, with his loving family and friends by his side.

Born in Bridgeton, Gene was a Vineland resident for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Bridgeton High School, Class of 1960, and Rutgers University, Class of 1968, where he made the dean's list and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked at Paul Boston Associates Accounting Firm in Media, Pa., for 15 years. Gene enjoyed playing golf, watching football games -- especially the Eagles, being with his family and friends, and was a wonderful grandfather. He also enjoyed substitute teaching at Milanesi Elementary School in Buena and was a member of the Capri Swim Club in Vineland for more than 33 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Peggy (Parker) Matalucci of Vineland; two daughters, Rhonda Bennett and husband John of Vineland, and Tracie Kennison and husband James of Vineland; five grandchildren, Ryley and Cole Bennett of Vineland, and Kenny, Jordan and Gianna Kennison of Vineland; his mother, Pauline Matalucci of Bridgeton; two sisters, Barbara Sparling of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Phyllis Raines of Bridgeton.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Padre Pio Parish, Dante Avenue, Vineland. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Pompeii Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday morning at the church.

The family has requested no flowers be sent, but memorial donations be made to their favorite charity, The Dream Foundation, P.O. Box 705, 114 E. Oak Road, Vineland, NJ 08362-0705.

Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 1019 E. Landis Ave., Vineland.

Dear Peggy, I just found out that Gene has passed away and was so shocked and saddened by the news. I was looking up friends on facebook and put in his name and that is how I found out. My girlfriend Marsha and I attended your wedding so many years ago. I adored Gene....and was so very happy he found true love with you . I know that someone probably e-mailed me about this but I was in the hospital at the time Gene died. I am suffering from Ovarian Cancer since 2006. I wanted to contact Gene and say howdy . It has been so many years since we have seen one another and I hoped all of you were fine. I just don't know what to say... I am shocked and I know it will take a long time to ease your pain. Peggy and Family,
So sorry to read this online about Gene.
We go back many of years in Bridgeton and his Mother Pauline living in the neighborhood. Then working with you in Vineland what a small world.
Gene graduated with my bother also.
