Joseph E. Scattergood, 90, of Haddonfield, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, the loving husband of Elsie C. Levari Scattergood.
He was predeceased by parents, Thomas and Helen Scattergood; wife Eleanor (Starrs); and wife, Grace Williamson Ward Scattergood.
He was the father of Janet Inners (Ron), Marion Rusenko (John) and Joseph E. Scattergood Jr. (Barbara); and the grandfather of six, with two great-grandchildren. He is survived by brother John Scattergood of Westmont; many nieces and nephews; and stepchildren Joan Levari Bohl, George/Kathleen Levari and Carlton J. Levari.
Joe graduated from Haddon Heights High School 68 years ago, and then proudly served in World War II, piloting B-26 bombers. Upon retiring as a manager from New Jersey Bell in 1982, he traveled the world, mainly Europe and Asia. He was a member of Haddonfield "65" Club. Joe lived and anguished by his beloved Eagles and Phillies. He was an avid gardener and bird observer, and was greatly stroke-challenged by golf.
Interment will be private. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at Piney Hollow Methodist Church, Dutch Mill Road, Newfield. Family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his memory to: Holy Redeemer Hospice, 150 Ninth Ave., Runn- emede, NJ, 08078; or Piney Hollow Church, c/o C. Johnson, 3094 Dutch Mill Road, Newfield, NJ, 08344.
Funeral is under the direction of Danks-Hinski Funeral Home of Lindenwold.

Hello Rev. Scattergood, I hope you remember me. I met you Mr Marquez's services. That is where we discovered that my Father and your husband were cousins, my Grandfather William Wilson and your husbands mother. I'm so sorry I never made it to visit.
