Robert Aretz Obituary
Vineland - Feb 21, 1937 - August 14, 2021
Robert " Butch" Thomas Aretz of Vineland, NJ passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August, 14, 2021 after a brief illness. Butch was born in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania on February 21, 1937 to the late Albert and Rose Aretz. He attended Clayton High School and was a veteran of the US Army in the 1950s serving in Korea. Butch married the love of his life, Nancy (Beu) in 1960 and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage and 63 years together. Butch worked as a master glassblower for Wheaton Glass and Kontes Glass for over 50 years. He was a talented glass artist and could fix anything. His passion was his yard where he worked together with his wife Nancy maintaining three fish and turtle ponds and many magnificent gardens. He loved their dogs- Dewey, Nelly, LuLu and Sweetpea and their two cats Budbud and Ruffy. Butch had a love for life with a positive outlook always saying he "felt like a million bucks". He made friends wherever he went. Crabbing and fishing were just two of his favorite pastimes, as well as going to the movies and dinner with his family and friends.
Butch and Nancy raised three children in Vineland and family was his greatest pride and joy. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all his heart. He is survived by his children Robert "Bob" (spouse Joanne) of Philadelphia, PA, Wayne (spouse Ellen Yin) of Philadelphia, PA and Tracie (spouse Mark Muir) of Moorestown, NJ. Four grandchildren, Evan Aretz, Amelia Aretz, Ryan (spouse Gabrielle) Muir, Natalie Muir. He is also survived by brothers, Ronald Aretz (spouse Nancy) of Sarasota, FL, Bernard (spouse Kathy) Aretz of Mt. Laurel; sisters, Irene Kimble of Vineland, Kathleen Buono of Spring Hill, Fla and Arlene (spouse Edward) Felicioni; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Butch will be remembered for his humor and zest for life. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Donations in Robert Aretz's name may be made to Funny Farm Rescue Animal Sanctuary of Mays Landing, NJ or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
His family will hold a private gathering to celebrate his life.

Growing up with Wayne, I (and our crew) spent a lot of time at Butch & Nancy's house, swimming, barbecues, volleyball, or just hanging out. They treated us like their own kids. Butch had a special way about him, a quiet intelligence, doing anything he could for us, always a positive attitude, and a great joke, a real character while truly being a man of character. Nancy, Bob, Wayne, Tracie, and extended family, my most sincere condolences. I hope you all know how much I and many others appreciated & respected Butch. He will be missed.

My condolences go to the family.
Butch and I worked in Kontes, we would always exchange grandchildren stories. They were his pride and joy.
He also shared his Hawaii vacation.
He was a great man.
