Robert S. Blizzard

AGE: 77 • Newport

Robert S. Blizzard, 77, of Newport died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Cooper Hospital in Camden.

A lifetime Newport resident, he was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Furman Blizzard and Mary Van Vleit Blizzard and the husband of Sarah "Sally" Logue Blizzard.

Prior to his retirement, Bob had served as a Paramedic with the Underwood Memorial Health System for over 20 years. Previous to that he had been employed with the Cumberland County Board of Health and with NASA in Greenbelt, MD. He was responsible for the establishment of the former Downe Township Rescue Squad.

A lifetime member of the Newport United Methodist Church, he had been involved as a Sunday School Teacher and a Lay Minister who spread the Word both in and out of the Pulpit.

In addition to his wife Sally, he is survived by his four children, Ricky Raymond (Jodi) of Millville, Robert 'Bobby' Blizzard, Jr. (Amy) of Millville, Sarah Blizzard (Elvis) of Vineland and Caite Blizzard (Anthony) of Vineland; a brother, Ronald Blizzard, Sr. (Gia) of Newport; four grandchildren, Beckett, Bryce, Finley and Juliana Blizzard; a niece, Mary Blizzard and a nephew, Ron Blizzard, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the Newport United Methodist Church, 340 Methodist Road, Newport on Thursday morning, Feb. 4th at 10 AM. Friends will be received at the church on Wed. evening from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Bob's memory be made to the Newport United Methodist Church, 340 Methodist Road, Newport, NJ 08345. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
