Norma Mayes Obituary
Norma worked in the business office of Carson City-Crystal Schools for 22 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church and considered choosing Jesus Christ as her Savior as one of the most important decisions of her life.
On August 18, 1956, she married Lloyd W. Mayes at the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church, a blessed union built on love and respect. Norma's greatest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed vacationing with her family on camping trips, and visiting historic places and natural wonders. Her love of family led her to a hobby in genealogy, which she pursued enthusiastically, traveling the country with her husband after retirement to do genealogy research. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans for family members (especially the babies) and flower gardening. She will be deeply missed.
Norma is survived by her children, Michele (Raymond) Wilcox, Denise (Roger) Hagerman, Gordon (Melissa) Mayes, Nanette (Bruce) Davis; nine grandchildren, Natalie, Andrew, Kerri, Hannah, Kristen, Ryan, Madison, Megan, Emily; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister Wanda Kay Hyde.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd and her parents.
A celebration of Norma's life will be held on September 14 at the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church. Visitation starting at 10:00am and the service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be held later that day with a private service for family at Spencer Cemetery in Crystal Township. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Corewell Health Hospice or the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church.
