Joseph Thornhill Joseph Thornhill, age 64, passed away at home on August 9, 2023. Joe was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to his parents, David and Helena (Ricci) Thornhill. After moving to Knoxville, he met his beloved wife of over 40 years, Sheila. Joe had a 35-year career in law enforcement and retired as a Lieutenant from the City of Alcoa Police Department in 2021. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Helena Thornhill; mother and father-in-law, Bruce and Louise Samples; sister-in-law, Debbie Price. Survived by his loving wife, Sheila Thornhill; son, Brandon Holt and wife Ami; son, Adam Thornhill and wife Brittany; daughter, Megan (Thornhill) Woody and husband, Scott; 6 grandchildren, Olivia and Wyatt Holt, Collin and Blair Thornhill, Cameron and Adeline Woody all of Maryville; brothers, David, Fred, William and sister, Karen, all of Brooklyn, NY; brother and sisters-in-law, Jack and Sharon Davis, Gary and Lyn Samples of White Pine, TN, Scott Samples and Cindy Butler of Talbott, TN; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Victory Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM with Pastor Steve Craft officiating.
