He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wesley Vaughan, Nathaniel Vaughan, Lexis Scudder, Lyndon Ewing, Josiah Scudder, and Journee Scudder, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

As a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church in Rockford, TN, he found solace in his community and in his faith. He attended Everett High School and, after two years at Knoxville College, proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years, demonstrating his dedication to his country.

Richard dedicated 44 years of his career to Alcoa/Arconic in Alcoa, TN, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues. After his retirement in 2018, he embraced his passion for travel, exploring new places, and making cherished memories.
