He is predeceased by his wife, Alice Gasparino; they were married for 49 fun filled years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Gasparino and his five children, Robert Gasparino of Preston, Verna Krider of Westerly, Virgia Szostak of Colorado Springs, Colo., Danny Gasparino of Preston, and Peter Gasparino of Sheridan, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and Edna's family.
In 1939, he moved to Preston where he developed Chuck Hill Farm. He was a lifetime member of the Preston Volunteer Fire Co., Past President of the Preston Fair Association, former 2nd Selectman of Preston, a member of the Republican Town Committee for many years, and a delegate to the Republican State Convention. He was a member of the New London County Farm Bureau serving for many years as a delegate to its State Conventions, a winner of the New England Greener Pasture contest and a 50 year member of the Preston City Grange. He owned and operated the Town of Preston's school buses for many years.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral home service at the Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich; burial will immediately follow at the Preston City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New London County Farm Bureau, 160 Oliver Rd., Lebanon, CT 06249; or to the Preston Vol. Fire Dept., Rte. 164 Preston, CT 06365.

Mr. Gasparino was the epitome of the old time farmer in Preston-the ones that helped make our little town a wonderful place to live. May he rest in Peace. My heartfelt sympathies to all of his family.
