Poughkeepsie - Alvin Noel " Vito" Hayles, a young man that loved his friends, loved his family, and loved to make everyone laugh, was born July 31, 1990, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Alvin and Floretta Hayles. At the age of 23, Alvin was tragically taken from this life on November 17, 2013. Alvin attended the Poughkeepsie City schools: G. W. Krieger Elementary School, Poughkeepsie Middle School, and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 2008, where he was a member of the Poughkeepsie Pioneers Football Team along with a host of other clubs and extracurricular activities.

In 2006, Alvin and all the young brothers of Poughkeepsie came together and developed a program to empower young men in the community. Alvin is a lifetime member of Brother 2 Brother and made his rite of passage on May 11, 2007.

Football was Alvin's passion, second to having a great time with friends and family. Growing up he was a member of the Poughkeepsie Cardinals Pop-Warner team, where he received multiple awards. He was a member of the Poughkeepsie Pioneers team where he occupied the #15 jersey and held the position of Tailback/Outside-linebacker. In 2008, Alvin received the Sherwin Thomas Award in recognition of his dedicated commitment to the City of Poughkeepsie Pop Warner. Recently, Alvin was a member of the Semi Pro Football team know as the DC Bears, a minor league non-profit football organization. He occupied the #6 jersey, held the position of Free-safety, and was scheduled to receive the Most Valuable Player award along with other certificates.

Alvin worked at a host of places but his most recent positions were with: Nubian Directions Fall Creek and The Poughkeepsie City Housing Authority. Tuesday November 21, 2013, he was scheduled to start working at Victory Lake Nursing Home. Alvin dreamed of becoming a professional football player; he completed a full year at Dutchess Community College and was preparing to start back classes in the Spring as a Business Major.

Alvin Hayles is survived by Alvin and Floretta Hayles ( Father & Mother), Jamel and SheriAnn Reynolds (Brother & Sister-in-law), Anquinette Hayles (Sister), Kerisha Hayles-Heaven and Lincoln Heaven (Sister & Brother-in-law), Andrea Hayles ( Sister), Jenida Morgan (Special friend/Mother of his children), Ah'mel Hayles (Son, 1 year old) Armani and Amir (Twin Daughter & Son, 15 weeks), Missipha Hayles (Grandmother), Willie B. Moore ( Grandmother), 10 Aunts, 5 Uncles, 2 Nieces, 2 Nephews, several cousins, a host of friends, his God-Children: Izan Webb, A'Riyah Parker, Azalae Murray, and Mi'King Bennett, who he was especially fond of.

He was preceded in death by: Grandfather Eleazer Hayles, Grandfather Price Tina Moore, Grandmother Marie Louise Reynolds, Uncle Noel Hayles, dear friend Abdelle St Ange, and dear friend Lloyd Banks.

Rhodes Funeral Homes in Poughkeepsie, NY is handling funeral arrangements. Services are being held Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Beulah Baptist Church 92 Catharine Street Poughkeepsie, NY, with viewing from 9AM-11AM and the home going service will start at 11 AM sharp.
