Barry Eckert Obituary

Groton - Barry Eckert, 50, caring father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at his home with his loving family.

Barry was born Feb. 9, 1964, in New London, the son of Karon Nichols of Groton and Barney Eckert in Crowley, Texas. Barry grew up in Connecticut and attended Waterford High School until moving to spend time with his family in Texas. He later moved back and resided in Connecticut.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emilly Eckert, his mom and dad, his sister, Keliann Eckert, and his well-loved niece and nephew, Karyn Eckert and Brandon Hart. He will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, stepmother, and half-sister. He also leaves behind his dog and faithful companion, Oynx.

Pleasant by nature, Barry made sure to mention how very appreciative and comforted he was by his medical staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His surgeon, Daniel J. Baffa, M.D., was courteous, informative, and comforting throughout the entire process and continues to talk with us daily.

Barry's family invites friends and relatives to his memorial service from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Zieberski house on Eastern Point Beach, Groton.
