Barry Gullickson Obituary
He was born in Great Lakes, Ill., on March 8, 1962 the son of John and Donna Gessler Gullickson of San Diego, Calif.
Barry had graduated from St. Bernard's High School and had completed a two year course at Grasso Tech in Groton. He was a self employed plumber.
He was a member of the Herwegh Lodge No. 12, German Club, of New London an was an avid outdoorsman.
Besides his parents he is survived by a son, Brett Gullickson, of Mystic; and a brother, Bryan J. Gullickson and his wife Nikki and their children Marc and Jayme of Groton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Dr., Groton. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today (Friday) from 6 until 8 o'clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St.

To all my family and friends,
I would just like to take this time to thank you all for your kind expressions of sympathy and for all your love and support to both Brett and I during this tragic time. I truly appreciate everything you have all done, and it will remain in my heart always.
I want to also say again to Mom, Dad, Bryan, Nikki, Marc and Jayme how very very sorry I am for everything, you will always be a part of my family and are always welcomed in my home.
And to the rest of Barry's family out in Wisconsin who could not be here, I am truly sorry for all of you also. I can't imagine how you are all feeling and being so far away. I miss you all and wish you all well.

I just got an email from my sister with Barry's obituary and I can't explain how shocked and sad I felt. Barry was a wonderful friend in every way during our years together at St. B's. He always had a positive attitude, a warm smile and a great sense of humor!!! I will always have fond memories of our school days and the great times we shared with all our friends.My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I just wanted to say how sad we are to lose Barry, he was like a brother to us and i couldnt wait for you all to come to Wisconsin and visit. I have such great memories of the boys when they spent summers with all of us, getting in trouble! The time I spent in San Diego will always be cherished for ever. I pray for all of you. I try to keep each memory alive in my heart and mind each day,( of Wayne) and know I will keep memories of Barry to . Lois & I were so shocked and heart broken to hear the news on Barry. Our fondest memories are when we were neighbors in San Diego (66-70). Dearest Bryan,
I can't begin to tell you how much the "Peterson's" enjoyed the summers that we spent with you and Barry!! We had so much fun and so many memories that I will cherish for a lifetime!! Barry always made me smile and laugh!! And oh what a proud Daddy he was of his son Brett!! He would talk with me for hours on the phone about his precious son!! I'm sure Wayne was there to welcome Barry home!! But, both he and Wayne will not have to suffer anymore!! They are both in a better place even though our hearts are broken!! I'm sure their laughing and singing up a storm right now!!
I will miss my chats on the phone with Barry! But, someday we will all be together again and we will have no more pain or suffering!! Bryan, my deepest sympathy to you and your Mom and Dad and the rest of your family! Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and we love you all very much!! I feel as though I lost another brother, but God has brought another angel home and he and Wayne will always be there for us as our guardian angels! Even though we were just recently divorced, I always truly loved and admired you. What I will remember most about you is that teriffic smile I loved so much and the gentlemen you really were, always willing to help someone out. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm very sorry to hear of this sad news.I've known Barry from his days at Southeastern Tech.We were there together in the early 80's. We worked at EB for a few years as well. It's hard to believe the reality of all this. I can only imagine the pain and shock you all are going thru.I will pray for you to some day find peace and smile again.Barry will always be remembered for his positive and friendly disposition. Uncle Barry you were the best guy around when i was younger and i learned so much from you. I know as i got older you and my father stopped hanging out as much so you werent around as much but you were still in my heart all the time.
