Christy Squires Obituary

Montville - Our Christy Jo left this world in the early hours of Feb. 4, 2022, two days before her 65th birthday.

Christy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Feb. 6 1957, the third daughter of Raymond and Margaret Fuller. Being the child of a Marine Corps drill sergeant, she and her family made numerous trips across the country and lived in California, Hawaii, Long Island and Pennsylvania, finally settling in Connecticut in 1966.

Christy was a kind and adorable child, always with a twinkle in her eye. She loved to play with her chess pieces and type on her Poppa's typewriter. She did not care much for school, as evidenced by the number of times she skipped class with her sister Gail but managed to graduate and begin her working career. Christy was a smiling worker bee and was happy to be part of the manufacturing and housekeeping industries. She loved having a job and going to work every day and only stopped when her health began to decline. Despite that, she somehow managed to dedicate and care for both of her parents in their final years.

Christy loved her family and surrounded herself with their photos and cards. She leaves behind her loving sons, Edward (Mary) Makara and Charles Squires Jr.; her grandchildren, Brittany Blanchard, Natasha Makara, Tristan and Jaxon Squires, and Xander; and former husband Charles Squires Sr. Christy's sisters, Gail (Vincent) Izzarelli and Cheryl (John) Egan will miss her terribly as will her newfound friends at AHEPA. Christy was predeceased by husband Tadious Makara.

Christy was welcomed with open arms by her Mom and Dad who predeceased her and always called her their 'little girl'.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home on Cliff Street in Norwich and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown.

My heart goes out to Christy´s family and all who loved her. I was the founder and Principal of The New Independent High School where Christy earned academic success, happiness, and self-confidence through hard work and self-motivation. May she rest In Peace!

My deepest sympathy to Christy´s family and all who loved her. I had the pleasure of knowing her when I was the Principal of the New Independent H.S. where Christy discovered that she could be happy and successful in school. May she Rest In Peace!
